Animals found decapitated near Pickering lakefront

Time Staff – Local citizens near Pickering’s waterfront were disturbed on Monday morning after the discovery of several livestock animals that had been decapitated on the beach near Beachpoint Promenade.

Police were called to the scene, at the base of West Shore Boulevard near Frenchman’s Bay, around 10:30a.m. on August 7, 2017, and called Animal Services to assist with the removal of the animals, which included a goat and chickens.

It was not immediately clear where the animals originated from, and there are no leads as to who left the animals there or why. Police believe that the animals were left there between Sunday night and Monday morning, as the scene, near a busy public trail, would be difficult for passersby to miss.

Durham police are asking for anyone who may have information about the case to contact them directly at 1-888-579-1520, extension 2542.
